Leland A. Bryant
The architect Leland A. Bryant was born in Michigan in 1891 and educated at the University of California, Berkeley. He is best remembered for the design of luxury apartment buildings in the Hollywood area. Bryant designed in whatever style was popular at the time. His portfolio extended from Moderne to Period Revival styles. Bryant’s association with Samuel Coine lead to a number of commissions for French Revival styled apartment buildings in West Hollywood. Their first collaboration was on the Four Gables Apartments at 8250 Fountain Avenue in 1927. Their other projects in the district include: Beau Sejour at 8320 Fountain Avenue; Savoy Plaza at 1314 Hayworth Avenue; Granville apartment at 1424 Crescent Heights; and La Fountaine at 1285 Crescent Heights.
